My son, Adam, playing baseball at the Arctic Ocean

This is a photo taken on our trip in Alaska. We flew into Prudhoe Bay into the tiny town of Deadhorse. Actualy, Wikipedia defines Deadhorse as an "unincorporated community" in the North Slope Borough, of Alaska along the North Slope.

During our trip there, we stayed in the Caribou Inn, which was primarily used for oil workers and some limited tourists (less than 15 at the time). Deadhorse in 2009 had a permanent population of two people; the rest were transients.

In this picture, my son Adam "played baseball" in the Arctic Ocean by using a piece of driftwood to bat small pebbles into the ocean. We also got a chance to put our bare feet in the ocean. I understand this is harder to do now, because at the time Princess Cruises had an exclusive deal with British Petroleum to gain access to areas like this. They have not offered this tour option recently, so we are glad we went when we did.
